Such an innocuous album sleeve design for something so immortally magnificent and transcendent.

One of the first Genesis albums I ever heard and I never looked back. The sound of the album coupled with the cover art which perfectly complements the music makes for one of my (still) favourite albums. The last great Genesis album IMO (even if later albums sold better - did they?)

For me, its not a collection of songs - but more a novel of magnificent journeys and I love to go on these travels within the stories

The soundscape during the guitar solo is possibly not matched by any other Genesis output - or the output of many other bands tbh. Still stunning after 40 years listening....

OK: I admittedly have zero clue as to where this band were emotionally, philosophically or creatively at this time, since Peter moved on, but this is simply magnificent. It encapsulated the pronounced, majestic and exultant quality that Tony Banks brings to bear to so many Genesis songs. It imparts a powerful message of transcendence, and it builds to a monumental crescendo. Or in other words:I fucking LOVE this!

The 2007 remaster destroyed the dynamics in the guitar solo / bridge. This post - closer to the original mix - is so much better. The use of dynamics here rivals classical music and really drives that middle section home in a way you just can’t with a constant volume level. So excellent.

My favorite album of all time. Every song tells a story.
