Grace Slick was an astonishingly good lyricist. This is probably her last great song. I totally forgive her that gratuitous reference to us Irish in the last verse. We are not all roaring drunks. At least not all the time.

sincere thanks and technicolour rainbows for posting this meta-psychedelic album..... everything on here is geared to take ya much further than ever before.... with a bit of assistance from the ever vigilant neon angels..... what a fantastic album.... lyrics music and the universal narrative...... greetings from tasmania and suitably wasted in the growing antarctic freeze

Jefferson Airplane actually broke up in 1970 when Marty Balin quit to launch a solo career and Spencer Dryden was thrown out for being too stoned to play and missing gigs. However, there were still legal contracts with RCA requiring them to do three more albums, so the remaining members went into the studio for the absolutely insane studio sessions that produced Bark and Long John Silver. When Jorma and Jack quit, they released Thirty Seconds Over Winterland to finally complete their obligations.
