Brilliant just Brilliant!!  I am a proud descendant of the Sami people. This is the story of my ancestors. I would someday love to visit Northern Finland and see first hand the Sami culture.

Many children were taken away from their homes and Sami parents were forbidden to teach their children the Sami language, to dance, etc.

Children were removed from their families and placed in boarding schools until about the late seventies. There is a big Sami movement happening now, though

I have read that the woodland fins were actually hunted for sport.

It is important to remember what went wrong in the past, but more important is to treat people better in the hear and now.

My Grandmother,Augusta was Sami,she passed away before I was born and I never learned her story . . .
