At first I thought he was kind of stiff, but I am not a coinsure of the Opera and after listening and viewing this u-tube presentation, I find him gracious, unassuming and he did a beautiful job, I enjoy[ed] it very much. A powerful song and a powerful presentation.
The voice is gorgeous, the performance is profound. But sorry, in 2019 a white man speaking caricatured "black speech" is too much. No more "Butterflies" in Yellowface makeup; no more white men singing "Old Man Ribber." And I know that this video is from decades ago. But there are plenty of talented people of color who can sing these roles--the roles themselves are already stereotypes, at least let people of color "own" them for themselves instead whites masking as caricatures.
I love this but Is it a mockery for an almost all white cast to talk about being a person of color and then put down the white man. Yes I see the one black man placed near the center lol. I remember JLO on American idol and there was a boy singing if I was a boy by Beyonce and her response was but you are a boy. I love Mr. Ramey though he is truly on of the best. No disrespect
