I doubt that this was written with Artie in mind. Paul got inspired by Jimmy Cliff’s song “Vietnam” and wanted to write a song with that in mind. He said himself that it’s about Vietnam. I see this as him imagining he’s in the depths of Vietnam, perhaps partly even in war situation, yearning for his woman who’s at home.
