I’m standing at your door
And all I’m waiting for
Is just a little sympathy
I’m just a beggar for your kisses
A beggar for your kisses
Can’t you spare a little love for me?
My heart is patched and torn
My pride’s a little worn
Oh, where’s your generosity?
I’m just a beggar for your kisses
A beggar for your kisses
Can’t you spare a little love for me?
Now, I don’t ask for all of your love
A little, insignificant bit would do
For it would mean so much to me
Although I know, it means nothing to you
You have so much to give
And I don’t need much to live
Do it just for charity
I’m just a beggar for your kisses
A beggar for your kisses
Can’t you spare a little love for me?
I have heard the original from a radio show from a 45 and it did not have the end chatter I actually believed they recorded it twice so there are two versions. best side by them and like the Ivories on Jaguar they did two versions of Alone one in 1955 and the better version in 56 then they became the Lovenotes on Holiday.
