The Orlons - South Street download song

(1963 Hit!) First time the world ever heard the word "hippie". I heard that it was a South Philly street term about 3-4 years before it went national.  "Groovy" is in there too! (Somebody from Philadelphia must have moved to San Francisco!)

South Street is about a main drag that runs through South Philly, but American Bandstand was filmed in a studio in West Philly partially because just a few blocks away was West Philadelphia High School which had a reputation for students who danced the best.

This is so cute ! The clothes look so comfortable, the 2 step dance is just great, and the energy is so beautiful. Gen x here. I love it.

Anybody notice how much the backing male vocalist sounds like Popeye?
